Frequently Asked Questions

What materials can a waterjet cutting machine cut?

Waterjet machines can cut virtually any material: metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, titanium), stone (marble, granite, slate), glass, ceramics, composites (carbon fiber, fiberglass), rubber, foam, and plastics. Maximum cutting thickness is typically 200mm.

What is the difference between waterjet and laser cutting?

Waterjet cutting uses ultra-high pressure water mixed with abrasive garnet, while laser uses a focused light beam. Waterjet has no heat-affected zone, can cut any material, and handles thicker pieces. Laser is faster on thin metals and offers finer detail.

What pressure does a waterjet cutting machine operate at?

Our LUCOHE waterjet machines operate at a working pressure of 360 MPa (50,000 psi) with a maximum pressure of 420 MPa (60,000 psi). This ultra-high pressure enables precise cutting through virtually any material.
